May and June delivered outstanding fishing here in Costa Rica, with a little bit of everything on offer for our anglers.

The offshore tuna bite has been exceptional, with schools of yellowfin holding well offshore and producing consistent action. Anglers willing to make the run have been rewarded with fast-paced fishing and quality fish, making for some unforgettable days on the water.

Mahi-mahi are beginning to show up in good numbers as we move into the rainy season. Most of the better action has been a bit closer in than the tuna grounds, with floating debris and current lines holding healthy schools of colorful dorado. We expect this bite to continue improving in the coming weeks.

Billfish action has remained steady, with sailfish providing consistent opportunities offshore. We’ve also encountered the occasional blue marlin, adding an exciting bonus for crews targeting pelagic species.

Inshore fishing has been equally impressive. The roosterfish bite has been excellent, with aggressive fish feeding hard on live lookdowns and blue runners. Anglers targeting the beaches and rocky points have enjoyed consistent hookups and exciting battles with these powerful inshore gamefish.

During June, we also took two weeks to haul the boat out for scheduled maintenance. This annual service ensures everything is in top condition, allowing us to provide our guests with a safe, reliable, and comfortable fishing experience while keeping the boat performing at its best for the busy months ahead.

Overall, May and June produced excellent fishing across the board, and the outlook for the coming months is very promising. We look forward to welcoming everyone back aboard and continuing to put our anglers on quality fish. If you’re planning a Costa Rica fishing adventure, now is a fantastic time to get on the water with Bob Marlin Sport Fishing.
